GARDEN ROUTE - 4 DAY ROUND TRIPThis is the most popular overnight tour from Cape town. The route includes some of South Africa’s most magnificent and diverse natural scenery. Spectacular mountain passes, tranquil lagoons, ancient lush forests and pristine beaches. It also offers the opportunity to traverse the arid yet fascinating little Karoo – land of the ostrich, Cango Caves, quaint towns and picturesque farmlands.DAY 1 We depart Cape Town early over the Hottentots Holland mountains into the rolling farmlands of the Overberg. After a brief stop at Mossel Bay, historic site of the first Portuguese explorers we continue to George – gateway to the Garden Route.
DAY 3 After breakfast we go on a short walk crossing the Storms River on a suspension bridge., This is a photographer's dream with the diversity of natural scenery. We travel back, stopping at the unspoiled beauty spots of Nature's Valley, visit the Big Tree (800 years old) and over the majestic Outeniqua Mountains to Oudtshoorn - land of the ostrich. We overnight at an upmarket country retreat and can enjoy Karoo lamb or Ostrich steak for dinner.
We start off
by visiting the famous Cango Caves. We then leave Oudtshoorn and
take “Route 62” passing quaint towns such as Calitzdorp, Barrydale and
Montagu. This scenic route is through the semi arid Little Karoo and is
flanked by the Swartberg and Langeberg mountains. After a country
lunch at Barrydale, we travel past Worcester and Du Toit's Kloof to reach
Cape Town in the late afternoon.

easily be the most exciting 6 days you ever experience. Added to
the beauty and splendour of the Garden Route you also experience AFRICA’S
WILDLIFE. We visit Addo Elephant Park and see the BIG 5 at a Private
Game Reserve.
DAY 1 We leave Cape Town through the 4km Du Toits Kloof Tunnel to our first stop at Worcester. Along "Route 62" we pass vineyards, fruit farms and ever changing landscapes. |

Through the little Karoo towns of Montagu, Barrydale, Ladismith, we travel to reach Oudtshoorn - home of the Ostrich - where we visit an Ostrich Farm. After a good dinner, we overnight at an upmarket Country Lodge.
DAY 2
The day starts with a visit to the famous Cango Caves. We cross the Outeniqua mountains to George – gateway to the Garden Route. Here as an option you board a steam train for a journey to Knysna, a spectacular coastal journey. We meet you in Knysna and check in at our overnight accommodation. The road trip, with stops at Wilderness, is just as scenic. The evening will be spent dining at a popular seafood restaurant.
DAY 3
After breakfast we explore the town of Knysna with its many arts and craft markets. We board a boat for a cruise on the lagoon to the famous Knysna Heads. We continue north and stop at the beautiful beaches of Plettenberg Bay. Over spectacular mountain passes we reach the TSITSIKAMMA NATIONAL PARK – “place of much water” where we overnight.
DAY 4
Today we may
enjoy one of the many nature trails or go for a swim. We leave TSITSIKAMMA
and travel along a scenic route to arrive at ADDO ELEPHANT PARK in the
late afternoon. After dinner we relax at a lit waterhole hoping to see
the giants of Africa.

DAY 5
Today we visit a Private Game Reserve. The award winning reserve boasts Africa’s BIG 5 in a malaria free environment. We go on a rewarding 3 hour 4x4 game drive to spot game such as giraffe, zebra, eland, springbok, lion, leopard, wildebeest and a variety of birdlife. After a sumptuous traditional lunch (included) we visit a cultural village where we are treated to a display of the indigenous people of South Africa. We return to Addo for time to relax or a short drive through the park before dinner. |
| DAY 6
Besides boasting the densest population of African Elephant in the world, Addo also has black rhino, buffalo, zebra, kudu, eland, duiker, warthog, jackal and many other species. Pending on the time of your flight from Port Elizabeth, you can go on a guided walk, horse riding in the park or a final game drive. We make our way to Port Elizabeth for your flight back to Cape Town/ Johannesburg. This tour is also available as a tround trip back to Cape Town. |
